The History of Marlinspike Hall

Marlinspike Hall in the French-Belgium called Le Chateau de Moulinsart, castle house is owned by Captain Haddock in the Tintin adventure serial created by Hergé.

This castle is described mimics the middle of the Chateau de Cheverny (see photo). The name is derived from the French word Sart-Moulin, a village near Braine-l'Alleud in the Walloon Brabant, Belgium.

Marlinspike Hall has a meaning - a tool used to gob lace mine - is a family heritage castle of Captain Haddock seafarer's family since his grandfather father. Marlinspike Hall was first introduced in The Secret of The Unicorn episode, which at that time this castle was a residence of the criminals, Bird Brothers. In the episode Red Rackham's Treasure, this castle was bought by Professor Calculus to represent Captain Haddock, the treasure trove of stories hereditary eventually found in this underground castle.

Marlinspike is a place to stay of Tintin and Captain Haddock while relaxing while of the adventures among them. However, in The Castafiore Emerald episode, Marlinspike Hall is the main location for Tintin's next adventure, where all instances the loss of Bianca Castafiore's Diamond this took place in the castle, castle's yard and its surrounding rural areas.

Marlinspike Hall is described as a residential area and the luxurious, decorated with various works of art, antique furniture, and a gallery of Captain Haddock's family wealth . The yard of the castle consists of a wide garden with big trees, wide open field, and a garden with full of rose. Yard is surrounded by high walls with at least two gates and a small building (which is used by Professor Calculus as a laboratory in The Calculus Affair).

The size of the house and yard at Marlinspike Hall seems need a lot of the household's maid and gardener, but only a faithful servant, Nestor who always looks.
